THE LOVE MOVEMENT

MISSION:

The Love Movement was established with one concept in mind, to make a difference. A collaborative effort of public art and gallery work by a group of designers, artists, and teachers from different backgrounds, TLM's mission is simple, to create art that critiques and pokes fun at society and pop culture while also drawing awareness to the current state of the world. Often using discarded materials, TLM creates something new by destroying something old, by creating beauty from that which society leaves discarded to decay. The Love Movement has been known to make a difference in our society. Through their art sales, TLM provided a fresh water well in the African country of Benin; and payed for the school supplies, transportation, and fees for the children in Colby, Benin and Bali, Indonesia.

here are some of their shirt
designs:

Originally from Philly, these
Bay Area California artists
all wen to art design school, and
now that they're living together,
have decided to actually do something about the injustice
in OUR world by using art to express opinions that we all share.

We often talk in class about
how things aren't the way
they should be and how it is
evident to all of us. But time
and time again I am frustrated
to see how those sporadic revelations seem
to fade away, like ripples in a
lake after the pebble has spurred it into movement. It is time to act, to stop
wasting away time and money
on top selling propaganda items
sold to us by the media, and start helping other human beings who have been shut out by the iron curtain of our attention span.

Just because the news doesn't mention it, doesn't mean it isn't real.

We can not sit around hoping for someone to come and clean up the world for us. We must realize that the world will not spin in it's revolutions unless we push it into motion. We need to open up our eyes to the poor and the starving, the unfortunate who plead for a helping hand. We are that helping hand. Now it's time to reach out.

What do I get when I donate?

Okay, if helping other people
isn't enough for you, here's
another incentive which is available to anyone through a very simple process:

1. join the fight for change at
http://www.tlmphilly.com/join.html

2. donate just $2, about what some of us spend every day
at the cafeteria or the vending machines.

3. send it to

the love movement
109 paseo de la playa #5
redondo beach, ca 90277
united states of america

( hopefully getting an envelope and putting it in your mailbox isn't too much work...I hope)

4. Recieve a 2 disc soundtrack
from The Love Movement including such artists as:

The Beatles
Outcast
DJ Shadow
The Coup
Ben Harper
Matisyahu
& many more

- once you get it just sit back and chill out to some hip tunes, and flash a well deserved smile up to the sky, knowing you have caused a feeling of hope in someone's heart

You also get an original doodle from a
"The Love Movement"
artist :D

YOU'VE TALKED ABOUT CHANGE.
NOW BECOME CHANGE.

The American Red Cross is great organization that helps with disaster relief and other global atrocities. One service they provide is the distribution of food to war-torn societies suffering from poverty. i think that I'm going to write about this organization.

UNICEF foundation

This foundation was established in 1946, after the WWII in order to help those children in need. It primarly started in Europe and Japan delivering emergency assisatance. Now it has become a worldwide foundation and it now helps millions of children who are in need of help. Those orphans, ill-fed, iliterate, those who are exploited every day, those who live on the streets, without any shelter, the homelessl, ect. Its mission is to give those children the oportunity to live the life that each one of us deserve, the chance to live a disease-free life, the chance to educate themselves, the chance to have their stomachs satisfied. UNICEF believes in the rights of children, because the most innocents "don't deserve to die by preventable causes."

Hi Mrs Stoklosa! I actually have a great charity that i think should win this constest. This charity was created by the Corredor family, in other words my family. It's called Fundamira, and it builds schools for children in the south pacific coast of Colombia to give them education and also teach adults to raise the literacy level in that region of Colombia. I think it's an amazing thing and i would really appreciate if everyone could really donate some money for this cause. Here's the link to the english page http://www.fundamira.org/en/index.asp

BEST BUDDIES
Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.

Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to more than 1,400 middle school, high school, and college campuses across the country and internationally. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States. We have accredited international programs on six continents with additional country programs under active development. Our six formal programs Best Buddies Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, Citizens, e Buddies and Jobs will positively impact more than 350,000 individuals this year. Best Buddies also is systematically implementing our 2010 initiative that will witness the organization's continued significant growth, both domestically and overseas. Best Buddies volunteers annually contribute services to the community that equate to more than $70 million.

Even though Best Buddies has advanced tremendously in our short existence, many areas of the country and many regions of the world still lack programs to help people with intellectual disabilities become part of mainstream society. Our goal is to continue expanding nationwide and at the local community level, while more broadly engaging the global community through our programs.
