The Winner!

The winner of the charity contest is the Touch a Heart Foundation. This group raises money for children in the South Florida area. So all donations will be directly help less fortunate children right in our own backyard.

I want to thank everyone who participated in this contest. All of your charity suggestions seemed fantastic and I would love to donate to each and every one - but alas, I am unable to. Hopefully each of you will take the time to give a donation to the charity that you recommended - even if it is just a couple of dollars! Every little bit helps.

I will be taking donations to the Touch a Heart Foundation all week during class. At the end of the week I will send off the combined donations from all classes in the name of "Mrs. Stoklosa's English Classes."

Thank you again!

I have to admit I had fun blogging about a foundation which we know can help other people. Often times I find it hard to donate to charities because I'm never sure if the money will actually get to where they say it's going. Thus there have been many moments where when asked to donate some spare change i have said no. But now that my own classmates were the ones who went out in search of them, i have a bit more confidence in what my money will be used for. The websites also help a lot because they allow me to see pictures and articles from the organization and the people they have helped, only adding to my trust in them.

This is the best thing to do! I always try and donate anything i can to people that really need them and I think this is a great chance for everyone to be able to participate in this event. I have to admit though I didn't really think this foundation would win, but honestly it doesn't matter which one because either way you are making a difference and helping people who need help!:)

I think that the Touch a Heart Foundation is a great charity to donate to. In fact in sixth grade my tennis acadamy did a fundraiser to raise money for this charity. We played tennis all day and then we had raffles and a lot of food. People donated all sorts of things for the raffle, which resulted in many people buying tickets. Last year we raised about three thousand dollars. I was very impressed and pleased by the amount. Hopefuly it made a difference in some of these kids lives.

I am very happy that the Touch a Heart Foundation won. Helping children in need has always been something that I enjoy doing. It feels really great to know that we will be giving donations to needy children this Christmas!

I agree, a charity that focuses on helping needy children is indeed a great charity. If we shall help the poor, shouldn't it start with the young? Children are innocent and have their lives ahead of them, so we should help as much to make it as great as possible for the people of the future.

I think it’s really great that you've set this whole donation thing up. It's awesome that you've been able to get all your classes to participate in doing something for those who don’t have the things that we take granted for. It was a great time to start the Touch of Hearts Foundation because hopefully it will give many children the opportunity to have a better holiday season. I love donating and doing as much as I can to help out people who don’t have as much because It gives me the feeling of selflessness and I feel extremely proud afterwards. It pleases me to see others happy or to know that I’ve made a difference in someone else’s life. I definitely think that this is something that you should do more often. Plus it helps us get involved as well. Hopefully, we can raise a lot of money and a lot of the students contribute to a greater good. (:

It is hard to see the numerous problems people face on their daily lives in different parts of the world. Children starving, with out parents, without identity, with out shelter. Parents starving, not being able to raise their children in the way they want to raise them due to the harsh situations they face. On the other hand is really satisfying to see the many charities founded to help relieve some weight off these issues. I am personally grateful that I am able to attend school and I don’t suffer from any disease or disorders, neither from severe economical situations, nor psychological situations. We should show our gratitude by helping others feel the same way, and for that it really doesn't matter which charity won the contest. The point is that we are bringing happiness to our hearts by giving love to others. Yes, it is a local charity, but at least we started somewhere.

I think this is a great idea as a class for us to work together and raise donations for the less fortunate children in our area. It didn't really matter to me what charity we were planning on aiding because the bottom line is,we are helping others in need around us. The sad part is that not every child is as "lucky" as we are and do not have the items that we use everyday. I am really excited that we are making a difference in the world today!!! <-- Yes, thats 3 exclamation points. In other words, I was beyond extremely ecstatic when I wrote that last sentence.

Mrs. Stoklosa I feel really good now that I got to help someone else out. Even though it was the charity I voted for I still think it's good to give. I learned now after this blog to not take things for granted. I am greatly to help donate to childern who don't have any gifts. THe Christmas time is a time of happiness. Now the Childern will be happy. I had fun blogging this week knowing I was helping other people.

Even though the Touch a Heart Foundation won I will still make a donation. I didn't vote for the charity because I still think that Kids in Distress is a better charity. I think I am going to visit the Kids in Distress either this weekend or one weekend during the week because it has been a long time since I last went. I think it would be great to visit the Kids in Distress charity this holiday because it's the holidays and it would mean so much. I think it's good though that as a class we are raising money for our own foundation instead of following the one's that the school picks.

It's nice that we chose a foundation that is so close to where everyone in our school lives. This is because we know that we're having a direct and positive impact on our own community. Of course donating to any kind of charity is a great thing to do, but with the Touch a Heart Foundation, I believe that more children, including myself, will be more motivated to donate and help out.

I am really excited about the foundation we chose. I think it is a really good deed that we are all doing. Nothing is better than helping those that are less fortunate and this is a great way to show how much we care. It gives me great satisfaction that I am helping make a child smile. :)

I'm glad that this foundation won!
I love helping children, and the foundation I wanted to donate money was about Children too.
I feel great knowing that the class donated money to this foundation, and that we, together, can make a difference.
