A Fond Farewell

The end of the semester is either a welcome event or a bittersweet event (depending on my classes). This time, it is a bittersweet event. I have had the opportunity to watch my students grow-intellectually, creatively, physically - over the past semester and that is always my honor. In fact, it is often one of best parts of my job. Not everyone gets the chance to watch such an important transformation take place.

I want to take this opportunity to tell my students that I am quite proud of them. I have presented numerous challenges over the semester that most students have rose to and, in some cases, conquered. Also, and this may seem odd to say (but it does go a long way), these students rarely complained and worked hard to become better writers, readers, and overall students. I am grateful for that.

As you move on to bigger and better things, remember that there is always someone willing to help in room 361. Maybe I will even see some of you next year in my classes. I am teaching a film class that should be fun...

I know I will be sad to leave your class. Going to second hour was a treat because I never knew what to expect. It has been so much fun. We did things differently than other English classes, like blog every week and make Wikis and many other fun things. Although I feel sad about leaving your class, I am also anxious to move on with the school year and get it over with. I know that throughout the years we will have many teacher and courses but I will definitely remember your class. It was challenging but fun at the same time. All good things must come to an end, I know all that you taught us will be useful in life.

Out of all my classes this semester, I can honestly say that your class is the one I learned the most in. I don't think I have ever wrote as much as we wrote in your class this year. But it has helped me in so many ways. Even writing blogs comes much easier to me then it would've in the beginning of the year. The challenges were difficult, but they only benefited us. I'm very thankful for having you as a teacher, I learned so much information that will help me now and later on in life.

This is a bittersweet time. To be honest, the first day I thought this class was going to be horrible and boring, because I have not appreciated English classes in the past. But this English class was very different. You presented ways to learn that were fun, and it seemed like we weren't really working. You also have taught us things other than writing and reading strategies, more like life lessons. You have made me appreciate literature more than I did before and become a better writer and reader, which are all important things to be successful and not just another illiterate person in the world. Thanks!

I am really glad I had you as my English teacher. I had lots of fun this semester, and found it really interesting. This had been one of my best English classes. I would love to join your movie class, but I believe I have no spot in my schedule. I hope to be able to visit you after the semester ends.

This year seemed to go by so fast. I learned a lot from English II Honors. I understand how to analyze films, focus on my writing better, and a lot more. Even though some of the assignments seemed tedious and challenging, it was all worth it in the end. I'm going to try to get into film study class. The class sounds like an interesting idea with the chance to understand good films better.

What a wild ride your class has been! From all of our class debates to learning useful tips for the SAT. Im very confident that I've learned more in your class than any other of my classes thus far. I feel that you are definitely my first english teacher that ACTUALLY taught me to write essays in a right fashion. After this class writing essays for other classes and even the AP test will be so much easier. I did enjoy this class and all the people in it. I cant wait to get on with the year though. Im nervous for AP english, hopefully i'll survive...

Mrs.Stoklosa I have you for two periods everyday right after each other and although we might see differently sometimes, you were one of my most favorite teachers. You actually taught, and were probably the first person to just plainly say what you think I should do to help myself. I thank you for that, I'm sad that I'm leaving, but if it's available I will definitely be taking it.

I have always compared your english class to physical conditioning. I saw many connections that could be made to any physically demanding sport, just that in room 361, it was my mind being conditioned.
The best part of english this year was the challenges put before us. One challenge that has made me much better are the writing activities. It was unlike any other school assignment I had to have to write blogs every week, able to write whatever I wanted.
As bad as it may seem I enjoyed the many essays because each time I felt I wrote better and better.
Thanks for preparing us for the SAT instead of the FCAT, I would agree on that approach any day.

I'm not going to lie, I tried several times to switch out of this class. I guess it was for the better that I couldn't get out. This year of English has definitely been one of my most memorable. Maybe if there is room in my schedule for next year I will take film studies. It's been a fun semester and I will probably continue to write on my blog from time to time.

I can't believe that this year is half way over. This year has been going by so fast. I have had so much fun in this class. I am going to miss second hour so much. I have always enjoyed reading and writing but after this class I have a whole new look on it. I have learned so much and have improved my writing extremely. I think that the way you teach also really helped me. My typing has truly improved and I find that this way is easier for us. I am so glad I had you as a teacher. Thank you for everything,

I think I have learned more in your class this semester than in any other of my classes. I always hated my English classes in the past because it was meaningless work, just assigned to us in order to get an English credit. But yours was better than I expected. I loved that we did film studies, which I had never done anything like that in an English class before. And, my writing has improved so much since the beginning of this year just by doing a journal everyday and blogging. I'm definitely looking forward to taking AP next year, even though it probably won't be the same as your class. I will, without a doubt, remember your class for years to come and I am so happy that I had you as a teacher.

I definitely enjoyed your class. In my past, I have never enjoyed an english class. It was either too boring or we didn't learn anything. I liked how technology was involved in your class but I also liked how the grading was strict. This is good because it is the only way for us kids to learn these days. Other teachers would assign essays twice a year and just give out 5s and 4s instead of reading through the papers and helping the students individually. You're definitely one of the best teachers anyone could have.

Even though you were a tough teacher, you were a great one as well. You made me a better writer out of me and this has greatly affected me. If I made it through your class, I can make it throughout any class because you make me really think logically. Many teachers today just give out assignments and tell students to complete them, but not you. You cared about the class and wanted the students to come out of your class with a education. Thank you for a great semester and I hope to see you again in the future.

For most, the end of the semester certainly brings a forlorn feeling into classrooms. Although the past couple of months have been great and have given teachers and students time to grow on one another, the sadness and thought that we most likely will lose touch with our buddies sets in. But also, on the bright side, we get to go to our new classes in about a week and we once again have the opportunity to bond with really cool people we have never met before. What could be greater? ;)

Im certain that im going to be sad to leave your class.. Your class was fun and it's the only class im allowed to talk in! Hopefully I'll have ur class next year =D. After your class, I've never been able to wach a movie the same way I used to again. Thats cool because I can kind of tell what whats going to happen in a movie before it happens.. jeje

This will be really sad leaving your class. And I'm not just saying this but you are honestly the best English teacher I have ever had and teacher all around. You helped me with a lot this half a year. With getting me the audio books, coming to the meetings, and givings statements. I just wanted to let you know I really appreciated that. I will take all the things you taught me and take it with me on my journey of life. Thank you for all your great work. Maybe I'll have you again next year as a teacher! :)
