This morning as I was unloading myself from the work parking lot (quite early I would add), I noticed that the car next to me also had a passenger inside waiting to head in to the building. I gathered my bags, locked my car, and started walking. She decided to catch right on up to me and chat with all of the energy in the world. Now, I rarely, if ever, see this woman, let alone speak to her. But, she is one of those morning people. It was evident from her bright attitude, chatty demeanor, and look of concern as I quietly nodded or grumbled responses to her seemingly never ending questions. I can't recall those questions right now, mainly because as she was firing them off all I could think was, "Please leave me alone. I need some time before I speak to people. Can't you see that it is early!"
I am convinced that the self-dubbed morning people are a freak of nature. I get the whole "I am happy to be alive another day thing," but, what I don't get is the joy at being up so early on yet another day that you are alive. Can't you be happy to be alive at say, 9am rather than 5am? Is the level of joy really going to change within a couple of hours? I think not.
As you can probably tell, I am not a morning person. I don't wake up with a smile on my face, ready to face the day. I don't particularly like bright light shining in my window and I really don't enjoy listening to the "sounds of the world waking up" (as some of those morning folk like to say). I prefer to stay in bed until I am good and ready to roll out. Breakfast? Who needs it? Sure, I like eggs and pancakes but I can have those any time of day. I love the night. Curling up with a good book and just a small lamp to light my way is my version of heaven. I enjoy sitting on the couch discussing my day with my hubby. And dinner food rocks! There is something inherently wrong with having a big bowl of pasta for breakfast.
But those crazy morning people, they just don't get it. When I say that I would rather sleep until 9am and stay up until midnight, they just give me this sad look of pity while thinking "Wow, she is just wasting her days." And it is because of this belief that they will never cease to make everyone around them fellow morning people. To those folks out there still rebelling against the morning - don't let it happen! We gotta keep something good for ourselves.

I totally agree, mornings are just not that great. I mean, who really enjoys hearing their alarm clock when they are exhausted and know they have to get up with a full busy day ahead of them. But I am not a night person either! I do not like staying up late, for any reason. The only time I stay up late is if I am at a sleepover but that is basically it. I wonder if more people are early birds or if more are night owls.
Wow! That would be very annoying having someone nagging on you that early in the morning. I thought having to get up a 6 in the morning on school days was bad, but you say that you get up at 5am; now that really sounds tough. I think it is really ridiculous that our school systems makes our schools start so early in the morning. I really wish that was something they would revise because we all need good night sleeps, and especially growing students.
By no means am I a morning person either. It is just inhumane to a have to wake up early every single morning! I really have a problem with morning people too, especially when they involve me into their fresh morning spirits. They are always trying to act so happy and excited about their brand new day in life, when really we all know that these people are just trying to cover something else up that they do not want to be known. This is just my opinion though. The one thing that I do love about morning, and is the main reason why I am able to get out of bed, is breakfast. Probably the best meal of the day and the most important. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of fried bacon and eggs or even fresh French toast and pancakes. Now that right there is my main motivation! Besides that though, goodbye to mornings and hello to good nights!
I would have to totally agree with you! I'm most definitely not a morning person. When I wake up I need a few minutes to just lie in my cozy sheets and soak in the last minute warmth before I start my day. But once I'm up and moving then I'm fine. I love the night though! It just seems like its so much better. Better food better shows and more things you can do! I can't seem to understand how someone wouldn't like it.
I agree, I’m not a morning person and I don’t understand how people have so much energy in the morning. But sometimes if I have something exciting for the next day I don't mind getting up early at all. But I honestly think that all the early birds out there take one day and sleep in late. Your body would just shut down, needing more time to actually sleep.
Haha! I would have slapped that woman across the face if I were you! I despise mornings, they're just the worst time of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, it's filled with beautiful women, loyal friends, and just overall good times. However, as chill as I may seem, I am a irritating and impatient person when I wake up. If someone ever started nagging at me full force with questions, I would wrestle him down and put him in a head-lock. That simple.
This was a really cute post. I'm not a morning person either. I love the night, it's just more exciting. During summer I read American Physco and I would just stood up till 4am for like a week straight reading it. I should probably mention that I began reading around 2, yeah.....I'm a night person
I absolutely hate it when there is any light shinning, loud talking, or even loud noises in the morning. I could be more of a morning person at 9 but I am definitely not a morning person at 5am! When my mom wakes up with me in the morning, I dread it. She’s always slamming the cabinets or asking me questions that she could have asked me the night before. I get ready in the dark, but my mom just loves putting on the lights. She’s not even a morning person she just does everything I hate in the mornings.
I totally agree! I'm not a morning person at all. I have a friend that is exactly like the person you're talking about. She will come up to me, start jumping, and talking, and i literally just walk away. I find that to be very annoying. Another main annoyance in the morning is music. I can't stand it. I think that school should start a little later, but then again we would be there later anyways. You would think that after all of these years of being in school that we would be used to waking up so early, but we're really not.
Now if any of your posts should relate to me, this post hit me straight in the face! What is it with people trying to jump around you with such "exciting" conversations. I feel as if I was being pestered by a mosquito which I can't seem to get rid of. However I have found an astounding solution. I now understand why iPods were invented. Their use is not to just hear music but to block out other people! Ah! Alas, finally having conversation with someone who is really bothering you is as easy as blasting your earphones and "ignoring" your subject. Get yourself an iPod.
I can't agree more with this. I have never been a morning person, when I wake up my parents don't even talk to me because they know its not a good time. If someone did this to me I probably wouldn't even respond. During school this normally happens all the time! I'll just be walking into class and people will be all hyper and talkative. Like what the heck!! Its 7 30 A.M can you shut your trap? But I agree, don’t let anyone put us down for not being morning people! I love the night, I’m practically nocturnal, I can’t function unless its past 9 P.M which isn’t really good for completing my work. But it’s simply the way I am and I refuse to try and change to being a jubilant annoying morning person!
Oh my goodness, I absolutely adore the mornings! Right when I wake up I always seem to have this positive and jubilant attitude that seems to follow me throughout the remainder of my day. Mornings, to me, are just so delightful and cheery, like rainbows or puppies. The best morning is when there are puppies and rainbows all while the sun is rising! Whether you are a morning person or not, most people can admit that sunrises are extremely captivating experiences. The hues of orange, gold, and yellow all mixed together engulfing the sun certainly "brighten" up my day. I do not know why, but I have always been a morning person, and will continue to be one, just because of my love for this joyous time of day. Yay mornings!
Mornings are just not appealing to me. Right when I wake up I just wish I could go back to sleep. There hasn't been one time where I was happy to wake up. After a few hour of the morning I snap out of my sleep-state and start to enjoy my day. I consider myself more of a night person. I like to stay up late because I know if I go to sleep early I'll just be closer to having to wake up, which I never look forward to.
hahaha! You are so funny! I enjoyed reading your post specially because I totally agree with you. Imagine waking up everyday with your little sister singing hannah montana or high school musical,a total nightmare! waking up at 5am is just too early for people to be so energetic, I would've just walked away or pretend I left something in my car and when the person leaves I'll get out.
Now this is something I can agree with. I have absolutely to energy in the morning to even think about what I'm going to do today. The mere thought of being at school at 5 a.m. sickens me. I don't think I could be there at that time even if someone dragged me there by my ankles. Also I tend to have more energy at night. It seems like it takes me all day to wake up so I can stay awake at night. On the weekends I don't even know what the morning looks like since I try to sleep as long as possible, usually at least till 12.
I agree, I'm definitely not a morning person. I'd rather stay up really late than wake bore atleast 9. I don't understand why people even bother to get up that early, it's not the world is any different really early in the morning.
I strongly dislike the mornings I just cant stand waking up from a great sleep by an alarm clock. I am just so exhausted from the previous day that it is difficult to wake up so early and be happy about it. I do not know how people can wake up early and be so excited like that person who was talking to you, it must have been really annoying.
I thought it was great that I had first choice of which bedroom I wanted when we moved down here. Little did I know that the spacious, cozy room I decided on had a window that sheds bright morning light directly on my bed every morning by 7am. I prefer to listen to the rhythm of the crickets chirping than the annoying ringing of hyperactive morning birds!
Many people seem to agree with you mainly to look good, but I absolutely hate the mornings. I am “fosho.” And what’s up with that dumb thought that sleeping in wastes the day? Sure, I understand if one stays hidden under their covers until 2 or 3 in the afternoon that it may waste time, but a little more sleep can’t hurt! Also, I’d much rather be out when other people are out, than being one of those freaks walking their dog at 5 in the morning, waving at the passing cars, and grinning like they just found a skittles pack in their pockets?
You just wake up remembering the wonderful dream you were just having. You’re in that dreamy state that only comes this very special time of the day. The sun? Not entirely out yet. The twilight fills your room in a perfectly veiled light. Mornings can be pretty great. The only time in the day that anything has yet to go wrong. No spilled coffee, no injuries, no scales that display a number way to high for your liking; merely the warmth of your sheets, and the comfort of your pillow. That is of course, until I hear my father’s voice, imploring me to get up, “or you're going to miss the bus!”, from there on… I am, most definitely, not a morning person.
I don't consider myself a "morning person," but I do enjoy watching the other people wake up with that happiness and be so energetiic early in the morning. Like you said, I don't like to hear the whole world wake up, or light peaking through my window and I most definetely don't like waking up early, but once I get over the whole "why do I have to go to school thing?" I don't mind the rest of the world waking up. I am not a happy person, who walks around with a smile from cheek to cheek as soon as they wake up, but I don't walk around with a look on my face that gives the impression I want to kill someone.
As a matter fact, I like waking up and watching my friends' faces filled with joy and emotion, because it gets me started on the right foot. Not only that, they set the environment of happiness around me, and that's how I end up feeling throughtout the whole day. Although, I am not as happy as other people in the morning, I do try to be at least in a good mood, becuase dependind on how I start my mornings, that's how the rest of my day is going to go.
