Alternative

With all of the holidays looming around the corner I am sure that many of you are pondering what to give your loved ones for those gift giving events. I am sure that many of you will be taking part in the time honored tradition of "Black Friday," but if not, I would like to offer another alternative.
I came across a fantastic website not too long ago that allows people to not only purchase ecologically friendly goods, but also donate to a variety of charities and organizations. For example, last year I gave a gift in my mother's name to a butterfly habitat in Mexico. She loved it!
So, for those that have everything, give a gift that will allow them to give back to the world. Visit: http://greatergood.com/

I think this is an amazing alternative for people that have everything . You never know what you can give to people who can afford anything. You know me, I will recommend this to everyone. It helps everything and everyone from anti-poverty to ecology studies. This showcases that there is still good people in this world.

Mrs. Stoklosa when you told us about this story in class, I loved the idea, and i think ill give a donation to the same butterfly place just because they're pretty and i think my mom will like it. thank you so much for the idea because I had no idea what to get her.

I appreciate the alternative but I did indeed go to the well-known "Black Friday" but it certainly was a disaster to say th least. That was I-95 with no cars, lines that lasted 2 hours and people that smelled horrible because they visited from countries in which bathing wasn't a custom; being so close to them you get first-hand sniff. Anyhow, your idea sounds great, I just checked out the website and they have some pretty awesome ideas for presents. Not only are you "Going Green" but your promoting the saving of our enviorment and showing your love to the person buy giving them a christmas gift. I'll be sure to buy a couple of theing from this website, it's a relief from the mall hastle and bad-smell.

This is definitely a great idea. I never know what to gwt my brother of my mother for the holidays. Well my brother is a whiny brat, so we'll get back to him later. As for my mom, she works in the jewelery business so she can get all the gold, silver, and diamonds that she wants, and her best friend works at Chanel, which I've been told is the Lamborghini of perfume. I'm terrible when it comes to selecting gifts so this is a big help.

Giving to less fortunate families is a great thing to do especially during Thanksgiving. It shows them that there are people who care and that there is still some hope left in this world. I think we can all make a difference in our own way, through this website or another. I myself help out at the homeless shelter and knowing that I am helping less privileged adults and children is its own reward.

As the holidays are coming around the corner, I agree that it is extremely important to remember to buy gifts for your family members and friends. Most people today, like me, do not have a clue on what to get their parents for the holidays and I think this website is very informative. People are saving the environment and also getting the chance to buy something for their loved ones. I will definitely check it out when it comes time to shop for gifts.

This is good. Helping people out during these "thought giving" times. If you think about it is like killing two birds with one stone. You buy someone a present while also giving to charities. This website will get some of my Christmas jobs done quicker. I also would like to say that giving is important even though Barack Obama is making the wealthy give a lot of money to the lower class, we all should still give to our fellow humans our fellow people something more, the gift of showing them people care. Showing that the world isn't hell and maybe this year will be better for some people.

I believe that this is a very great option for a holiday gift. I often have trouble deciding what to get certain people who I know can have or afford whatever they want. Many people that I know would appreciate a gift like this especially since it gives back to the economy. I will definitely check this out when I am doing my holiday shopping.

I think that this is a fantastic idea. My mom is constantly encouraging to find an organization to donate food or money too. i also believe that it is very important to give especially in these tough economical times. Many of us have so much and should start thinking about what we can do to help others who are not as fortunate. I love the idea donating to a butterfly habitat i think i am going to do something similar with animals as well.

I believe this alternative is really great. I have been stumped on what I am going to get my mom. As I was looking through some of the stuff on the site, I saw some pretty nice things I could get. This is really a great because I am helping the environment, as well as getting my mother a gift for the holidays and avoiding the mobs at the mall.

When you talked about it at class Mrs. Stoklosa, I didn't pay attention to what you were saying and didn't have a clue about it. But now that I read your post I think it is very simple but thoughtful at the same time. What may be a little gift for us, it can be a huge and significant gift for others. It's not difficult at all for us that are fortunate, spend some time to think and actually do something about issues like that.

This is a great way to get people to shop and buy things and supplies for low prices. Espically now with our economic crisis, people can't afford many things. But now with days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday people can afford many things for their families.

Instead of giving meaningless presents that will probably last only a short amount of time, this provides a great alternative. This post also came in an oppurtune time, because the holidays are just around the corner. Although I don't celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, I exchange presents with my family for new year. Not only is it cheap, it also helps the environment.

Not only is this idea ecologically sound, but the originality of it is what I believe make it a great gift. I'm very interested in seeing what other gifts are availabe at this website. I don't know how much longer my mom can take a new bracelet EVERY christmas.
